Just Tyler

My handsome little man...

You can't even tell that I trimmed his hair! Might have to let the professionals do it pretty soon!

This is Tyler growling... he's terribly ferocious!

1st Haircut!

Tyler got his first haircut today! We only took off an inch, so it was really more of a trim. He was getting pretty shaggy around his ears and neck so this morning I attempted to shape his hair up a bit while Josh documented with pictures. We kept a lock to go into his baby book and got a few good pictures... unfortunately I forgot to get one of him after it was finished! When he wakes up, I'll have to fix him up and snap a couple. He was really good and sipped on his apple juice the whole time. He got a little wiggly when I was trimming the back, but he was extremely still while I did around his ears. He learned to sit still when we were checking his temperature every few hours when he was sick, so now anytime you mess with his ears, he practically freezes. It came in handy though!

Officially under the weather...

Tyler has definitely qualified for his first real illness over the weekend. He felt a little warm early Saturday, but we just figured that teething was the culprit and gave him a little motrin and left it at that. About four hours later, he woke up from his nap and was burning up and a complete rag doll, not moving or making noise or drinking. Josh tried giving another dose of motrin but it came right back up. We called the after hours for our doctors office but decided to go ahead to the ER instead of waiting around for them to call back. When we got there Tyler had a fever of 104 and they gave him a thorough check up. He didn't have any sign of infection in his blood count, his lungs were clear, and his ears and everything else looked good. They diagnosed him with a fever virus and sent us home with instructions to keep him dosed up on motrin and tylenol combo's until the fever goes away. So we've been spending our father's day weekend checking temps, staying hydrated, and funneling meds into Tyler. His fever is still getting up to 102.5 when the meds start to wear off, so I'm calling the doctors office first thing in the morning and getting him checked out again. His mood has been pretty good through it all, when we were leaving the ER he had his blanket in his mouth and was smiling and waving to all the nurses... as long as he's medicated he's fine, but when that fever kicks up you can definitely tell a difference. Poor darling!

Crawling

Crawling and Day Care

My little darling is officially on the move. He's been mobile for a while, but that was only through scooting and wiggling. He's now figured out how to crawl! He isn't into everything just yet, but he has mastered opening drawers... so I'm sure that our cabinets are just around the corner. Time to get some baby proof latches! Tyler is also pushing and pulling himself up to standing, he's still pretty wobbly though. I think we have a few more months until he will be toddling... or at least I hope! He's also clapping and dancing now... it's been a very eventful month. It seems like in the past few weeks he's suddenly mastered a ton of new skills.

In other news, we have taken over ownership of a day care down the street. We are the proud owners of Lil Wildcats Child Care. We've only been open for a week, but so far things are going really good. We aren't running at full capacity, but all the kids and employees that we do have are great. Tyler has really done well with adjusting to the new people and scenery. The best part is that I am able to be with him through out the day and he is still able to play and interact with other kids. We seem to have the best of both worlds.... and hopefully as the business grows and gets a bit more steady in the day to day routines I will be able to spend a little more time at home. The past couple weeks, it seems like I've been living up there!
